This route developed by Sustrans largely avoids the busy A85 so the views can be admired in safety.
The first part of the route is a gentle well surfaced cycle path all the way to Lochearnhead. (8.8 miles) Once the top of GlenOgle is reached (approx 1 hour) there is a long downhill on a well surfaced ex railway track down Glenogle with amazing views of the Glen, Viaducts and the busy main road well below.
After a series of Zigzags the busy A85 is reached and after 0.5 miles you turn onto a beautiful quiet back route down the south shore of Loch Earn. The views are spectacular, keep an eye out for Red Squirrrels and Ospreys.
Food and drinks are available at Julia’s mobile cafe at the top of Glen Ogle, in Lochearnhead and at the excellent village shop in St Fillans with various Hotels and a new bar and microbrewery in the Drummond Arms, St Fillans.
